The #DisneyPinADay Project

A couple weeks ago I decided to start a projected called Disney Pin A Day or #DisneyPinADay in cool speak. It was a way for me to force myself to make more art and get practice in while having an excuse to do a lot of Disney designs which is one of my favorite things. (psst...Disney Design Group call me!) Here are the pins from week 1! Week 2 is currently in progress based on requests I received. I'll update with those soon!

Love Wins!

I can't think of a better day than 6-26 for gay marriage to finally become legal in all 50 states. Love wins!

Trick-Or-Treat Poster

Continuing my sort-of-series of Disney short posters is this one I created for Trick-Or-Treat, one of my favorite Disney Halloween shorts. I remember watching this one all the time as a kid so I've always wanted to create some sort of tribute to it. Also Donald is a huge jerk in it. Also who gives out candy canes for Halloween? This guy apparently.

Trolley Troubles Poster

September 5th was the anniversary of Oswald's first short "Trolley Troubles", which I believe is 87 years old now! I started this project a couple years ago but never got past some initial concept sketches. I came across it last week and figured it was a perfect opportunity to finally finish it for the anniversary!

IMAGINATION!

Here's a project I had the pleasure of working on at SolidLine Media. This was a video that played before AHRMM's member conference in Orlando, FL earlier this month. It's about using your imagination to make your boring adult life cool again! I animated the first two minutes of this (after the countdown) (and not the rocket ship).

Robin Williams

Here's a tribute I made to Robin Williams. I loved all of his films growing up but Flubber was one that stuck with me for some reason. Some called it a flop...alright, pretty much EVERYONE called it a flop, but I loved it. Maybe because I was like 8 when it came out. But I remember being in awe at the flying car scene and absolutely loving Weebo so that's kinda how I got to this.

Emotisaurus! Theadless + Path Contest

EDIT: My submission is now live for voting! If you have a minute please vote for my stickers! You need to register but it only takes a couple seconds. Thanks!! Just click this link and you'll go right to my page.

-----------------
I've been working on a project for a Theadless + Path contest the past week and I just finished it up! The contest was to design a set of 6 "stickers" to be used in Path's messaging system. Sort of like emoticons. I decided to use a dinosaur character I've been drawing forever. The winner gets a chunk of change and gets to expand their set to 24 stickers which I would LOVE to do (and probably will regardless).

I just submitted my design to Threadless and it should be approved in a day or two. Once it's live for voting I'm going to need your help to vote for it! This will be the only time I'll be annoying I swear. Here's what I submitted so you can take a look now before it goes live! I'll update this entry with the link when it's available!

Thanks in advance! I worked really hard on this!

The Story of the First Christmas

This post is a little late but I wanted to get this blog up to speed! I have since finished my Thanksgiving/Christmas animation which is titled The Story of the First Christmas. I designed and animated all the joy, spirit, tears, and violence you see here. Hope you all had a great holiday and a happy new year!

Project: Thanks

Well, Halloween is officially over. We even had an extra Halloweekend this year to celebrate which was pretty cool. And although I'm sad to see October go, we have some more holidays to focus on. The first of which, and one that is often shunned, is the fabulous Thanksgiving (and TomHanksgiving). It's a nice ending to the Autumn season. Unfortunately for Thanksgiving, Christmas likes to charge in and start putting up decorations and airing its commercials everywhere.

I had a lot of fun doing the Famous Monsters animation for Halloween, so I thought I would try to do something a little more challenging for Thanksgiving. I decided to base the idea off a drawing I did last year. Here's the initial character designs I did super quick tonight since we got an extra hour!

I think you can see where I'm going with this.

AAU Spring Show

This is a super late post but I thought I'd update anyways. In May I entered one of my shots into AAU's Spring Show and it ended up winning 2nd Place in the Character Animation category. They required a poster design so I thought I would post it here, as well as the actual poster hanging up at school.

FAMOUS MONSTERS Animation

FAMOUS MONSTERS from Chris Roman on Vimeo.

Happy Halloween!! Here's the complete Famous Monsters animation. If you've been following you probably saw my various Famous Monster illustrations. About halfway through them I decided to rig and animate them in After Effects. I posted a couple cycles, after which I decided it would be cool to put them all together in one scene. So basically everything kind of snowballed into this and I think it turned out pretty cool!

I created everything in this project from scratch except for the music (Alexandre Desplat) and the font (GoGoZombie).

Who knows, maybe I'll do one for Thanksgiving too!

Another Famous Monster animation!

Nosferatu Cycle!

I'm working on a project that incorporates all the Famous Monsters I made so far. Here's a quick animation test I did with the Nosferatu character. I'll be doing one of these for each character and then assembling them all together. Hopefully it works!
